A Set Back for Sally (June 2013)

Sally in HamburgSally was taken in to hospital for an angiogram check up last month to monitor her recovery. The results were excellent and showed that her original problem was completely resolved. Unfortunately, the intrusive nature of the investigation caused her to have a stroke which has affected her balance. The prognosis is that she will make an 80% recovery and that this may take up to 2 years but we hope it will be much sooner. As a result of this, we have to cancel all future bookings until further notice.

Needless to say Sally is very disappointed since singing is her life and this is a major set back for her. Nevertheless, we will continue to support her here and do our best to get her back on her feet.

She is in good spirits and is determined to return to work as soon as she is able.

For the avoidance of confusion, any advertised appearances by “Middle of the Road” for the coming months or, indeed, since May 2012, is not a band which includes Sally Carr and those appearances are not and have not been sanctioned by Middle of the Road featuring Sally Carr.

News Update January 2013

Just before Christmas Sally was invited by the “Wish upon a Star” charity to accompany a group of children on a trip to Lapland to see Santa Claus. This was her first serious journey outside of Scotland since her operation and she came through it with flying colours.

Sally astride the Arctic CircleIt was a one-day trip and required an early rise at 04.30 to catch a specially chartered flight to Rovaniemi Airport, Finland, where they were met by elves, pixies and woodland animals to escort them to Santa’s domain. The journey was as strenuous as any she has had to make when touring with the band and so it was a good test for her stamina. After a strenuous day on buses, sledges pulled by Huskies, she embarked on the three hour flight back to Prestwick in Scotland. She arrived there at some ungodly hour at night. She was thrilled by the trip and was relieved to find that, although she was pretty tired, her system had coped well with the experience.
