During the past decade or so we have been relying on our Facebook Pages to keep everyone up to date with the group’s activities and we intend to keep that going. However, we feel it is time to reactivate the old Middle of the Road Website once again with news, photos and videos.
As you will be aware, Sally suffered a Brain Haemorrhage in 2012 and then a stroke one year later.
During Christmas 2016, She ventured on to the stage, singing to playback with Ken at Christmas Events organised by Chris Andrews and his wife, Alex. It was quite a step forward for her and we are really grateful to Alex and Chris for giving us the opportunity to make contact with an audience again.

It has taken Sally a considerable amount of determination and effort to return to performing live and in 2017, she began singing with the band once again. Kenny McKay, Shug Devlin and Jacek jan Komiago were keen to return to perform with Sally and they joined Ken and Sally for a couple of day’s rehearsals in Glasgow in February 2017.

It was clear that the spark of enthusiasm was reignited and their opening concert appearance was in Schwarzenberg, Germany, celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the RSA Festival there. Middle of the Road had appeared at the very first festival all those years ago and the organisers and presenters were delighted to have the band perform their hits to the audience of 16,000 at the Open Air Event.
It was a really strange experience for Ken when after the performance the audience began screaming for more and the presenters appeared overwhelmed by it all with one on his knees kissing Sally?s hand, and the other standing with tears streaming down her cheeks. Sally was crying her eyes out as well.

The next week the band followed up their success with another appearance in Salzgitter Germany. This time everyone was more in control and the second performance went well.

Just to keep the pot boiling, Ken and Sally made a special appearance at the Largs Music Festival in Scotland. It was the first time Sally and Ken had sung in Largs since the days of Los Caracas in the 60s

Later in the year, the band made a couple of appearances in Holland.
The first was at a 60s night in Zoetermeer.

Sally had now gained much more confidence and was beginning to take control of her performance and the audience just as she used to.
The second appearance was at Rossum in a large tent which meant a fair amount of fiddling about at the sound check. Graham Forbes, author and musician, had been hoping to play on stage with Middle of the Road for some years and this was his first opportunity. Graham, whose books include ?Rock and Roll Tourist? and ?Rock and Roll Busker? has appeared on stage with a list of rock and roll icons the length of your arm (or more).

2018 begins with more performances in Holland and Belgium throughout the year and future dates will be announced on the Middle of the Road Facebook Page nearer the time.
